Woonsocket turned a good effort from starter Alberto Lozano into a win over the Newport Pilot Whales at Newport Grounds. The Foxes won the game, 5-2. The last-place Foxes lifted their record to 29-38.

The Foxes got a clutch hit from Belerofón García with two out in the top of the eighth inning. García jumped on a 1-1 splitter from José María López and hit a 2-run single, staking his club to a 5-2 lead.

"Alberto was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Woonsocket manager Miguel Ángel Quintanilla.
