Deep Ones Use Late Rally to Win 4th Straight
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Newburyport Deep Ones eventually prevailed.
The Newburyport Deep Ones eked out a 3-2 win versus the Providence Gems at Innsmouth Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Gabriel Salinas. He was terrific. Newburyport has now won 4 straight, while the Gems have lost 4 in a row.
Roberto López was the walk-off hero for Newburyport. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Deep Ones first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Newburyport manager Edelmiro Pompa called it "a darn good win."
