Pilot Whales Dealt 3-2 Loss
|
Templeton registered a win at The House of Sorrow by beating the Newport Pilot Whales, 3-2. Pitcher Andrónico Fonseca was one reason why the Red Onions triumphed. Fonseca got the win, improving to 5-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Templeton is first in the Southern New England Association Massachusetts Circuit with a record of 26-12.
Joaquín Martín had a big 2-run home run for the Red Onions in the bottom of the second inning. With Templeton leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Luis Orozco, who is tied for 9th in the SNEA in innings pitched with 88.0, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Red Onions on top, 3-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Templeton skipper Adelino García. "I like the energy they're playing with."
