Regicides Take Down Submersibles, 2-1
|
The New Haven Regicides downed the Falmouth Submersibles, 2-1, at Stuart Park. Stellar pitching by Herb Goodall had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Goodall went the distance for New Haven. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. New Haven is second in the Southern New England Association Connecticut Circuit with a record of 13-17.
The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With New Haven trailing 1-0, Bryan DeWitt delivered the decisive blow, stroking a fastball from Jack Griffin for a 2-run double. Ballgame.
"What a buzz," said DeWitt after it was over.
