Melodeons Get Past Rutland for 2-1 Win
In a low-scoring game between Bennington and Rutland, pitcher Isaac Castro was excellent. The Bennington right-hander helped his team knock off the Quarrymen, 2-1. Castro yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 20-11. With the victory, the Melodeons upped their record to 70-53.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, 24-year old second baseman José Martínez won it for Bennington. With the bases loaded, Martínez hit a 3-1 fastball from Atilio Enríquez for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Martínez said.
