Cordwainers Take Down Lightermen, 5-1
|
Auburn Cordwainers pitcher Mateo Pérez was in top form, leading his team past the Burlington Lightermen, 5-1. Pérez picked up the win for Auburn, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 13-8. The second-place Cordwainers bumped their record to 53-53.
The Cordwainers got an important contribution from shortstop Johnny Hill, who in the bottom of the third hit a first pitch cutter to right-center for a 2-run triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Cordwainers ahead, 4-1.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Hill.
