Quarrymen Suffer 6-4 Loss to Headstones
|
The Rutland Quarrymen and Barre Headstones riveted fans at The Graveyard.
The Barre Headstones defeated the Rutland Quarrymen, 6-4, in Northern New England Association action at The Graveyard. Barre pitcher Pedro Santiago had a standout performance. Santiago, now 12-8, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs.
The Headstones got an important contribution from shortstop Pascual Castellanos, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a first pitch slider to center for a run-scoring double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Headstones ahead, 2-0.
"Pedro's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Barre manager Édgar Huerta.
Barre now sits at 50-38, while Rutland falls to 40-48.
