Melodeons Win with Late Heroics
The Bennington Melodeons racked up a win at Melodeon Grounds, bumping off the Auburn Cordwainers, 5-3, in 11 innings. José Romero, who started for Bennington, pitched effectively for his team. The losses continue to mount for Auburn, which has now dropped 7 in a row.

Bennington got a knockout punch from Aimón López. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"José just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Bennington manager Alcides González.
