Melodeon Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Bennington Melodeons and Auburn Cordwainers.

The Bennington Melodeons beat the Auburn Cordwainers, 9-8, in part because of shortstop Hernán Castillo. He went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The third-place Cordwainers have dropped 5 straight games.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Bennington trailing 8-6, Castillo jumped on a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher José Muñoz and hit a 3-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Melodeons had a walk-off win.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Alcides González said.
