Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Manchester Gamblers and Lewiston Quebeckers.
Manchester took on Lewiston in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Quilón Ibarra, in particular, was fantastic. The Manchester right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. Getting the save was Alfredo Cabrera, his 2nd.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Gamblers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Jimmy Smith hit a 2-run single. The single came off Esteban Prats and made the score 2-0, Gamblers. Smith went 1 for 2. He drove in 2 runs.
"Quilón didn't beat around the bush," said Manchester field general Juan Carlos Benítez. "He was all business."
Manchester is 20-48 and Lewiston, with the loss, 33-35.
