Castro Fires 8-0 Shutout in Melodeons Win
The Auburn Cordwainers were almost helpless in their 8-0 loss to the Bennington Melodeons and hurler Isaac Castro. Castro kept the Cordwainers confused all game, spinning a 7-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Castro," Auburn manager Plutarco Silva said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 23-year-old right-hander had no walks and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Castro said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Thus far this season, Castro has tossed 86 innings in 10 starts, fanned 31 batters, walked 18 and put up a 2.30 ERA with 6 wins and 4 losses.
