Valenzuela goes 3-for-4 to Power Quebeckers Offense
|
The Lewiston Quebeckers got a rain-soaked win over the Manchester Gamblers.
The Lewiston Quebeckers topped the Manchester Gamblers by a score of 6-1. Leading the way was designated hitter Elía Valenzuela. Valenzuela went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Quebeckers. Tom Ferry, the winner, improved to 3-4. He held the Gamblers to 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Eduardo Mercado? The Lewiston right fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Quebeckers on top, 2-1. For the game, Mercado had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Valenzuela called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
At 15-16, the Quebeckers claim second place in the Northern New England Association Maine Circuit.
