The Juncos Chiringas downed the Gurabo Escaleras, 3-1, at Parquecito de Juncos. Stellar pitching by Ramón Muñoz had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Juncos, now 13-6, has played well in the early going.
Juncos took a 2-1 lead on Luis Piña's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Piña hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Gurabo pitcher Ernesto Orozco visibly frustrated.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Muñoz. "Successful pitchers do it."
