Hormigueros Breaks Through for First Win in Serie Preliminar; Now Trails 2-1
The Hormigueros Romeros have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Las Marias Citricos, winning, 5-2, at Parque de los Romeros. Romeros left-hander Eusebio González threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Romeros to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Serie Preliminar.

In the bottom of the seventh, Hormigueros shortstop Atanasio Peña had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and one out, Peña stroked a run-scoring triple to right-center. It made the score 3-2, Hormigueros. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 triples. He scored 2 runs.

Peña called the win "an overall solid one."
