Escalante, Utuado Start Serie Interliga Strong with Home Win
|
The Serie Interliga got off to a quiet start, with the host Utuado Serranos taking a low-scoring, 1-0 win over the Rio Grande Zarzas. Utuado right-hander Vidal Escalante was marvelous at Parquecito de Utuado. The Serranos now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.
Escalante tossed 104 pitches over 9 innings to clinch the win for the Serranos. The right-hander allowed just 2 hits, while racking up 8 strikeouts in the game.
"It's always fun to see the other guys getting frustrated, but the series isn't over and we've got to make sure to keep them on their heels," Utuado manager Juan Soria said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Parquecito de Utuado in Utuado.
