Blast Furnaces Edge Traverse City in Pitching Duel

Both teams had their chances, but the Gary Blast Furnaces eventually prevailed.
In a low-scoring contest between the Gary Blast Furnaces and the Traverse City Amarelles, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Nicolás Casas proved to be the difference. The Gary right-hander earned props for his performance in the 1-0 Blast Furnaces win. In 8.2 innings, Casas surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
Aureliano Villicana drove in one run for Gary. The 21-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tommy McCarthy. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Villicana.
So far in 1905, Gary is 32-31.
