Holland Beats Traverse City, 5-3
|
Traverse City got a decent performance from pitcher Tommy McCarthy, but it wasn't enough to beat the Holland Tulips. Holland won the Orchard Grounds contest, 5-3. McCarthy threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Aldomiro González got the win, improving to 6-8. He worked 8 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The Tulips are now 26-36, while the Amarelles fall to 26-36.
Holland used a timely hit from Eugenio Castro to get the win. The right fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tulips on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Castro called the win "a pick-me-upper."
