Orphans Tame Phillies In American Association of Baseball Finals
"It's no easy task to win it all," the Chicago skipper told the press after his club had beaten the Philadelphia Phillies 7-4 to nab the coveted American Association of Baseball title. His Orphans had prevailed over the Phillies 4-3 in the championship series. "It's hard enough just to win your own league trophy. To win the American Association of Baseball is quite an achievement. We are extremely proud to be that team." During the Western League regular season, Chicago posted a record of 98-42 to finish first in the standings.
