Blast Furnaces Lose, 8-6, to Sheboygan
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Gary Blast Furnaces take on the Sheboygan Brats.
Tom Wyman did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Gary Blast Furnaces from being beaten, 8-6, to the Sheboygan Brats at Stadium of a Thousand Degrees. Wyman was 1 for 1 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. George Davies, who went 9 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 6 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 0. His record now stands at 4-0.
Jack Crooks hit a run-scoring triple off Nicolás Casas in the top of the seventh, which put the Brats in front, 3-2. Crooks had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Crooks told the Sheboygan Citizen.
The Brats win now puts them at 26-30.
