The Alpena Partridges downed the Saginaw Joes, 4-1, at Birds' Nest of Alpena. Stellar pitching by Tom Ford had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Ford went the distance for Alpena. He gave up 1 run on 9 hits. The third-place Partridges have won 7 straight games.

The Joes had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Partridges going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman José Arvizu came to the plate. Arvizu hit a 2-run triple on a 2-2 cutter from Saginaw hurler Sandalio Santana. It was Arvizu's 3rd triple of the year.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Ford.
