Chicago Earns 5-4 Win
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago Orphans eventually prevailed.

The Chicago Orphans picked up a win at West Side Grounds 1894-1915, knocking off the Kansas City Scouts, 5-4. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Charles Bender. He played a key role in the triumph. The win puts Chicago at 13-8.

Had Jake Stenzel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Stenzel hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Orphans.

"This team's hitting on all cylinders," said Orphans manager Cherokee Fisher.
