The home crowd had a good time watching the Erie Commodores and Buffalo Hopper Boys get after it.

Buffalo pitcher Jack Pfiester had a large part in his team beating the Erie Commodores, 5-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Pfiester, now 4-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.

Buffalo designated hitter Willie Keeler contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Hopper Boys ahead, 3-1.

Keeler said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."

The first-place Hopper Boys sport a record of 17-11.
