Win Makes Bad Axe 17-7
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Bad Axe Stoplights and the Mackinac Island Stone Skippers, Beany Jacobson, who is tied for 2nd in the WGLA in complete games with 6, proved to be the difference. The Bad Axe left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Stoplights win. Jacobson got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Stoplights, now 17-7, have played inspired baseball.
Catcher Danny Reed made an impact for Bad Axe, when he swatted a 2-run triple off Hansel Núñez in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Reed went 1 for 3 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI.
Said losing manager John Hoffman: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."
