Blast Furnaces Take Down Brats, 3-2
|
In a tight contest between the Gary Blast Furnaces and the Sheboygan Brats, Red Ehret was the determining factor. The Gary right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Red Ehret picked up the win in relief for Gary, while Cy Falkenberg took the loss. The Brats fall to 6-13 and continue their lackluster start to the 1905 season.
With runs few and far between, the Blast Furnaces had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Gary came in the top of the second inning, when 30-year old first baseman Pandolfo Vielma delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Cy Falkenberg and made the score 3-0, Blast Furnaces. Vielma was 2-5 with 2 singles.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Sheboygan manager Jerry Barger.
