Amarelles Claim 5-1 Win
|
The Traverse City Amarelles rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Eduardo García to a win, beating the Escanaba Wanderers, 5-1, at Orchard Grounds. Escanaba falls to 9-4.
With two out in the bottom of the third, Tommy McCarthy hit a go-ahead, 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and with it the Amarelles took a 2-0 lead.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said McCarthy. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
