Cashmann, Chicken Chuckers Shut Out Engines, 1-0
|
The St Catharines Chicken Chuckers shut out the Oshawa Engines, 1-0, behind the strong pitching of Bob Cashmann. Cashmann surrendered only 2 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 0.
Following the last out, Cashmann appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Oshawa manager Federico Gabaldón, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Cashmann's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Engines skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Chicken Chuckers press conference, Cashmann confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Cashmann said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," St Catharines manager Louis Lebreton added.
