Halites Best Lilac Stockings in Pitching Duel
|
Syracuse pitcher Jack Easton had a large part in his team subduing the Rochester Lilac Stockings, 2-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The loss drops Rochester to 5-3.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Henry Blauvelt didn't flinch. With a runner on 1st and Rochester trailing 1-0, Blauvelt retired Jesús Villalobos to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Blauvelt, with a wink.
