Mentor Gets 13-Inning, 2-1 Win
|
Mentor and Buffalo left the crowd in suspense until the last at-bat.
In a tight tilt between the Mentor Rose Stockings and the Buffalo Hopper Boys, Ian Cooper was the difference-maker. The Mentor left-hander excelled in his team's 2-1 win in 13 innings. Mentor reliever Bill Fagan picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Red Donahue was tagged with the loss.
The game came to an abrupt end with no one out in the bottom of the 13th. On a pitch from Red Donahue, Bill Stuart hit a run-scoring single. It gave Mentor the 2-1 win.
Cooper called getting the win a "good ending to a long game."
The Rose Stockings, now 2-1, have been playing some good baseball.
