All went well for Tony Shearer of the Lubbock Layabouts as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 10-0, over the Amarillo Horizons, limiting them to 8 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Shearer on the day.

"Tony's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Layabouts manager Julio Méndez. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

In the contest, the Lubbock right-hander rang up 2 and surrendered 1 walk.

"He didn't give us any second chances," said Horizons manager Fred Corey. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."

In 34 starts this season, Shearer has registered a 22-11 record and a 3.00 ERA.
