Galveston Gulls starter Heráclito Ornelas found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Nacogdoches Roaches. At 37-78, Galveston is in last place in the Eastern Association Galveston Circuit.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, 17-year old first baseman Javier Novo won it for Galveston. With the bases loaded, Novo hit a first pitch sinker from Egidio Rodríguez for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.

"The crowd was juiced," said Novo.
