Wichita Falls got a terrific performance from pitcher Vicente Valdez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Abilene Preachers. Abilene won the Yardmen Park contest, 4-3. Valdez threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The third-place Yardmen dropped to 48-64.

Rafael Román aided the Abilene cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth. For the game, the catcher drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Wichita Falls manager Kevin Kerfoot said, following the tough loss.
