Galveston designated hitter Cristóbal Méndez was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Nacogdoches beat the Gulls, 5-4. Joaquín Espinosa got credit for the win, improving to 18-7. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 9 innings. Nacogdoches is now 68-40, Galveston 36-72.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Ananías Méndez in the bottom of the ninth. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off 31-year old right-handed pitcher Marcos Castillo to win it for Nacogdoches and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"Now that's what I call an exciting game," said Roaches manager Matías Magaña.
