The Nacogdoches Roaches thumped the Beaumont Alpinists, 11-1, at Alpinists Field. Leucipo Mata was a big reason his team got the win. Mata was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Joaquín Espinosa got the win, improving to 16-6. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 9 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 0. An Thu had a big 3-run home run for the Roaches in the top of the third inning. With Nacogdoches leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a cutter from 32-year old right-handed pitcher José Rodríguez and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Roaches on top, 6-0.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Beaumont manager Tobías Angulo. "We got trounced."
