The Santa Fe Hollyhocks got a good effort from starter Ginés Valdés in defeating the Wichita Falls Yardmen at Yardmen Park. The final score was 4-2. In 9 innings, Valdés surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The losses continue to add up for Wichita Falls, having now dropped 8 straight.

There were several reasons the Hollyhocks beat the Yardmen, but one factor was Alejandro Gabriel. In the top of the second, the Santa Fe second baseman came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.

"Bad luck's the only luck we've had," said Wichita Falls manager Wilfredo Perales.
