Layabouts Get Past Abilene, 4-3
|
The Lubbock Layabouts did just enough to sneak past the Abilene Preachers, 4-3, at Abilene Grounds. Lubbock pitcher Ross Culp, in particular, had a standout performance. The Layabouts are now 17-13, while the Preachers fall to 13-17.
Lubbock used the timely hitting of Samuel García to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Layabouts on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said García. "You've got to get results."
