Mammoths Knock Off Cadavers at Mammoths Field
|
Behind the hitting of Marcos Domínguez, the Waco Mammoths stopped the San Marcos Cadavers, 8-1. Domínguez was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Mammoths. The winner was Ignacio Vaca, who threw 124 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. The Mammoths, with only their 4th win in 20 games, have not had much to write home about in 1906.
Bill Anderson had a big solo home run for the Mammoths in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Waco leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from David Cleary, who is tied for 8th in the FBL-EA in wins with 3, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Mammoths on top, 3-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Anderson told a Waco Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
