Mota Records 5-0 Shutout Against Yauco
|
The Yauco Corsos had no answer for Canovanas Chupacabras pitcher Fernando Mota. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 5-0. Yauco managed only 7 hits off Mota, who had 6 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Mota got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Chupacabras fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
In 9 starts this season, Mota has rung up a 4-4 record and a 1.33 ERA.
