Hidalgos Use Late Surge to Win
The Ponce Hidalgos overcame a pretty good performance by Maricao shortstop Esdras Fuentes, beating the Ristretti, 6-3, at La Tacita. Fuentes went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Marcos Ochoa was the winner. He's now 3-0. The loser was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Elián Buenrostro. Alfonso López finished the game for Ponce and earned his 1st save.

Rolando Herrera came through with a big-time hit for Ponce. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Herrera. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."

The win leaves Ponce with a record of 7-4.
