Flores has 3 hits in Maduritos Win
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Corozal-Barranquitas ballgame.
The Corozal Maduritos topped the Barranquitas Insignes, 6-2, the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Jaime Flores. On the day, Flores was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Maduritos. The Insignes, now 4-8, continue their poor start.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Maduritos sent 22-year-old designated hitter Germán Martín to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a 2-run single, to put Corozal on top, 5-2.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Corozal manager Miguel Ángel Rivera.
