The Philadelphia Phillies and starting pitcher Cannonball Titcomb stifled the Boston offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at South End Grounds 1894-1915. The win leaves Philadelphia with a record of 13-14.

Elmer Flick, the fan favorite , had a direct impact on the outcome. Flick contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Philadelphia up, 2-1.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Titcomb.
