Martilleros Thrill Fans with 3-2 Win
|
Coliseo Emeterio García played host to some high drama.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Vega Alta Martilleros and the Penuelas Guiristas, 21-year old left-handed pitcher Raúl Ozuna was the difference-maker. The Vega Alta left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Ozuna, now 17-19, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.
With the game on the line, Rogelio Fraire came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. And the Vega Alta shortstop came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Basilio Gallegos, the Penuelas pitcher.
"I like winning," Fraire told the Vega Alta Daily News. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
The Martilleros are now 72-89, while the Guiristas fall to 78-83.
