The Maunabo Artilleros beat the Comerio Guabaleros, 6-1, at Recinto Atlético del Sureste. Starting pitcher Ian Maguire was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Maguire, now 11-14, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Maunabo raised its record to 82-77 with the win.

The Artilleros got an important contribution from first baseman Deasún McCarthy, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 1-0 splitter to left for a 2-run double. It was his 34th double of the season and put the Artilleros ahead, 4-1.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said McCarthy after the game.
