The Villalba Mercaderes racked up a win at El Recóndito, bumping off the Culebra Tortugas, 7-4. Roberto León, who started for Villalba, pitched effectively for his team. Tafari Mungai earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 4-4. Despite the win, Villalba, now 8-23, is off to a terrible start.

Villalba used the timely hitting of Eleuterio Fernández to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mercaderes on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to get this one," said León. "We've been scuffling."
