Yabucoa Beats Anasco, 8-3
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Yabucoa-Anasco ballgame.
The Yabucoa Dulceros dumped the Anasco Matadioses, 8-3, in large part due to left fielder Javier Castañeda. On the day, Castañeda was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI for the Dulceros. The winning pitcher was Gerardo Escobar. He tossed 65 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Ryan Burrell recorded the save, his 3rd.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Dulceros designated hitter Santiago Rodríguez hit a fastball from Telégono Lugo for a 2-run single. Just like that, Yabucoa was up, 2-1.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Juan Arriaga.
Yabucoa has now won 4 straight.
