The inspired effort of Loiza left fielder José López was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Anasco Matadioses. López went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Anasco starter Eulalio Castillo was credited with the win after throwing 120 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 15-15. Stuart Boyle earned his 7th save in 9 chances.

With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Teodoro González had a game-changing hit. The Matadioses shortstop slammed a run-scoring single off Marcos Robles, making the score 7-5, Anasco.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Matadioses manager Juan Arriaga. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

The Matadioses raised their record to 67-79.
