Tainos Send Florida Home with 4-2 Loss
|
The Gurabo Tainos knocked off the Florida Mogotes, 4-2, in Liga Hostos action at Coliseo Municipal de Gurabo. Gurabo pitcher and Carolina, Puerto Rico, native Nuño González had an outstanding performance. González, now 9-13, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Liga Hostos Valle del Turabo-leading Tainos have a record of 69-74.
In the bottom of the third inning, designated hitter Gabriel Sánchez had a run-scoring triple for Gurabo. It was his 12th triple of the season and put the Tainos on top, 2-1.
"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said González.
