Matadioses Claim Late Win
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Anasco Matadioses and Loiza Vejigantes.
The Matadioses grabbed a win, 7-3, at Estadio de los Vejigantes, overcoming a fine effort from Loiza pitcher Antonio Jaime. Jaime went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Gerardo Becerra, credited with the win in relief, is now 7-3. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings.
The critical at-bat for Anasco came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Segundo Cabada hit a 2-run single, putting Anasco up, 4-3.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Matadioses manager Juan Arriaga.
The Matadioses move to 69-73 with the win, while the Vejigantes drop to 67-78.
