The San Juan Metropolitanos dumped the Lares Fieles, 9-5, in large part due to right fielder Zacarías Esparza. On the day, Esparza went 2-4 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Metropolitanos. By defeating Lares, the second-place Metropolitanos improved to 74-69.

With San Juan leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Esparza came up to bat against Lares pitcher Sebastián Pérez. Esparza hit a cutter to right for a 2-run triple. His 10th triple of the season put the Metropolitanos on top, 4-1.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Esparza said.
