"Jean was just locating so well and using his pitches," Vega Baja manager Juan Covarrubias said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."

"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Rio Grande manager Prisco Aguilera said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
