Fieles Cut Down Cotorras, 5-2
|
The Lares Fieles wanted a good start from Elliot Watson -- and he delivered one. The result was a 5-2 Lares win over the Rio Grande Cotorras at Estadio de Lares. Watson, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 1 walk. Rio Grande now is 18-10.
Ron Hargrove, who is tied for 3rd in the LB with a 1.009 OPS, took Rio Grande hurler Calixto Bernal deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Fieles on top, 3-1. In all, Hargrove had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Hargrove attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
